The Story
What Would Joey Do? (Book 3)—Book Review

In this third book in the Joey Pigza series, Joey's ADD is finally in check and he focuses on being helpful to others. Unfortunately, Joey is faced with numerous challenges; his deadbeat dad shows up and argues with his mother, and his dying grandmother tells Joey that her last wish is for him to make a friend. Joey figures that his home schooling partner, Olivia, is a good candidate, but this proves to more difficult than he thought. Things get worse for Joey when his Grandma dies, but he triumphs by learning to stop trying to help the dysfunctional people around him and instead make himself top priority.
The Scoop
What Would Joey Do? (Book 3)—Book Review
{spoiler alert}

This well-written book is an honest portrayal of what it is like for child to have ADD/ADHD. Although this book can be humorous, it does deal with the serious issues of alcoholism, child neglect, domestic abuse, death of a grandparent, and its affects on a child with ADD/ADHD. Some questionable choices are made by Joey and the word "damn" is used once. Therefore, it is more appropriate for a middle school age audience.
