This sequel to Killer Pizza is as fun and action-packed as its predecessor. The story of Toby, Annabel, and Strobe as monster hunters continues. The three are a close-knit team who are supportive of one another and work together to protect one monster/teen and to defeat another monster. There is an element of violence as the monster hunters use crossbows and a taser weapon in their fights, some gory imagery is present--in particular when one character has to cut snakes out from under his skin--and a few characters are killed throughout the course of the story. Language is very mild (cr-p). The story is suspenseful, with everything coming to a head on Halloween, making this a fun book to read around the holiday. Killer Pizza: The Slice lends itself well to another installment in the series, and readers will enjoy the inclusion of a fun recipe that main character Toby makes at one point in the story.
