The Story
Torrent (The River of Time #3)—Book Review

After successfully using the space-time continuum to prevent their father's death, Gabi, Lia, and both of their parents return once again to fourteenth century Italy, where Gabi hopes that her love, Marcello, will be waiting for her. With the battle between Siena and Firenze still raging and the onset of the Black Plague imminent, choosing to stay in medieval times forever is not a safe bet. But for Gabi, spending the rest of her life with Marcello is worth the risk. Will she be able to convince the rest of her family to stay?
The Scoop
Torrent (The River of Time #3)—Book Review
{spoiler alert}

Picking up right where Cascade left off, Torrent is the satisfying conclusion to this romance series set in medieval Italy. Because main character Gabi travels back in time from the present day, the modern girl meets medieval machismo story line provides a unique and engaging twist on a historical setting. Gabi continues to be strong, independent, and fiercely loyal to her family. She and her sister Lia reject the damsel in distress role that is expected of them in the fourteenth century, refusing to stand by when they can help fight in battles. Not particularly religious in the past, Gabi continues to explore her faith in God and contemplates God's role in her good fortunes. While the romantic tension between Gabi and her knight in shining armor is strong and persistent, this is a wholesome romance for the twelve and up crowd. Gabi and Marcello marry with her parents' blessing (despite the fact that she is seventeen), and it is implied that their marriage is consummated on their wedding night. The story does involve lots of action and some violence because of the historical context. Fans will be happy that the series concludes with all loose ends tied up nicely.
