The Story
The Vincent Boys—Book Review

Since the age of five, seventeen-year-old Ashton Gray spent much of her time hanging out with her two best friends, cousins Sawyer and Beau Vincent. The three were inseparable--Ashton and Beau were partners in crime who loved to cause a trouble, and Sawyer was always there to bail them out. But as they grew older and the boys noticed Ashton changing, their friendship couldn't help but change, too. Then Sawyer asked Ashton to be his girlfriend and the special bond between Ashton and Beau was severed. Ever since, Ashton has tried to be the perfect preacher's daughter and girlfriend, closing off the fun-loving troublemaker part of her personality in order to be worthy of her perfect boyfriend. But Ashton's former friend, and the town's reigning bad boy, Beau has never truly left her thoughts. So when Sawyer goes on a family camping trip, it's not completely unheard of that Ashton and Beau begin to spend time together. Except that the two of them have a chemistry that cannot be denied. Will Ashton allow herself to come between the two cousins who are as close as brothers? And will Beau betray the one person who has stood by him no matter what?
The Scoop
The Vincent Boys—Book Review
{spoiler alert}

The Vincent Boys is a speed read that will appeal to romance fans, particularly those who enjoy a good love triangle. Teen girls who who have felt pressure to be the "good girl" and have found themselves attracted to the "bad boy" will relate to Ashton, who has buried a part of herself to please others. Eventually, she comes to terms with who she really is and decides to live her life more honestly. This novel could have used a bit more time with a red pen before its release as grammatical and spelling errors are frequent and tough to ignore. Teens party, language is occasionally strong (b-tch, wh-re, a-s, sl-t, d-mn, crap, f--k, sh-t, c-ck, do-che bag), and some descriptions of romantic interactions border on erotic. The author has this to say on her website: "While it isn't 'romance novel' explicit, it does get more graphic than I'd feel comfortable with a younger teen reading." Fans can follow this steamy love triangle in the next installment in the series, The Vincent Brothers.
