The Story
The Bell Bandit (The Lemonade War Series #3)—Book Review

This trip to Grandma's house is much different than what Evan and Jessie are used to. The fire at Grandma's house has left a big black hole in the kitchen wall, and Grandma doesn't seem much like herself. When Jessie discovers that the bell, Grandma's bell that has hung in the same place for years and years, is missing, she is beside herself. Can Evan and Jessie figure out what happened to the bell and can they come to terms with Grandma's new behavior?
The Scoop
The Bell Bandit (The Lemonade War Series #3)—Book Review
{spoiler alert}

In this third in The Lemonade War series, siblings Evan and Jessie have a mystery to solve involving an antique bell. This wholesome series is excellent for both boys and girls, and is a quick and age-appropriate read. The kids have a hard time accepting the fact that their Grandma is not behaving like she used to--she is forgetful and gets very confused. Her forgetfulness led to a fire in her house, an injury and brief hospital stay for her, and the need for some work to be done to repair her kitchen. The kids and their mother share a close relationship, and their father is absent from their lives. A neighbor boy who Jessie befriends is most likely on the autism spectrum, though it is not specifically stated. Some very mean boys not only taunt and bully, but are also cruel to animals and perform a particularly unpleasant experiment on a frog. The bell is recovered and returned to its rightful place in time for New Year's when the bell is traditionally rung, and the story wraps up nicely.
