The Story
Tales from a Not-So-Graceful Ice Princess (Dork Diaries #4)—Book Review

Nikki and her friends are back and they have a mission: raising money to help an animal shelter called Fuzzy Friends from closing. It's not just any animal shelter. It's the one where Nikki's crush Brandon works, and his family runs. If Fuzzy Friends closes, Brandon will have to move out of state. In an effort to raise money, Nikki decides to enter her school's ice skating tournament. But, mean girl Mackenzie is determined to foil Nikki's plan. Will Brandon have to move? Will Mackenzie keep Nikki from winning the prize? With the help of her two best friends, Chloe and Zoey, Nikki will do whatever it takes to win the money--and save Fuzzy Friends.
The Scoop
Tales from a Not-So-Graceful Ice Princess (Dork Diaries #4)—Book Review
{spoiler alert}

This fourth installment of Dork Diaries is just as engaging, age-appropriate, and quick to read as the other books in the series. Told completely in the form of diary entries with lots of fun and witty drawings, this book reads much like a girl's version of the Diary of a Wimpy Kid series. Nikki experiences all of the typical middle school issues: she is embarrassed by her family (especially her little sister), often feels awkward, and has to deal with the school's mean girl. She continues to crush on Brandon, with whom she works at the shelter. Nikki has a lot of heart, and she and her friends are a great support to each other. Completely wholesome, this book would appeal to a large age range of girls, from beginning readers to middle schoolers. This is a fun and easy series for girls, and it is not necessary to have read the books in order.
