The Story
The Thing About the Truth—Book Review

Kelsey and Isaac have both made mistakes--mistakes that have gotten them kicked out of their previous schools and led them to meet at the local public high school. Kelsey is driven and is determined to succeed at her new school, to stay on track for college. Isaac's politician father makes his life rather challenging, and he is just hoping to not get kicked out of this school. When Isaac and Kelsey start to fall for each other, things get interesting, and secrets and lies threaten what could be a really great relationship.
The Scoop
The Thing About the Truth—Book Review
{spoiler alert}

The Thing About the Truth is an engaging and witty love story. Told in alternating chapters by both main characters, it is interesting to see the same story from both perspectives. Kelsey has been kicked out of her previous school for vandalizing her boyfriend's car after having found out that he cheated on her. Both Isaac and Kelsey have strained relationships with their parents, and some complicated friendships as well. Everything in this story comes to a head at a school event that ends in disaster and mild physical violence. This story is told in the present as well as in flashback, as Kelsey and Isaac are in a school disciplinary meeting, reflecting on how they got there. Language is graphic and rather frequent, and teen sex takes place, as well as underage drinking. Teen girls will thoroughly enjoy the romance, friendship issues, typical high school drama and satisfying conclusion that makes up The Thing About the Truth.
