The Story
The Best Night of Your Pathetic Life—Book Review

One epic night. The Oyster Point High Official Unofficial Senior Week Scavenger Hunt. Mary sees this night as her chance at redemption. If she and her team win the hunt and the coveted Yeti trophy, they will no longer be considered "also-rans." She will also gain retribution and revenge over her nemesis, Jake Barbone, all-around bully and jock extraordinaire, as well as the jerk who took her spot at Georgetown. Mary and her quirky group of friends must outwit, out-strategize, outsmart, and basically outdo everyone else in order to win the hunt. Infighting, shifting alliances, crushes, and friendship difficulties add drama to an already wild night.
The Scoop
The Best Night of Your Pathetic Life—Book Review
{spoiler alert}

The Best Night of Your Pathetic Life is a fun, funny, and action-packed speed read. Taking place over the course of one night, this story centers around an unauthorized scavenger hunt, marking the end of senior year in high school. Mary and team are determined to win the hunt, which causes participants to use speed, smarts, resourcefulness, and killer instinct. One character is openly homosexual and a few other characters are involved in a love/crush triangle that causes some issues and awkwardness. Language is strong (a-s, a-shole, d-ck, cr-p, sh-t, d--che bag) and the word "fag" is used in a derogatory manner. Underage drinking takes place, with one younger character getting extremely intoxicated. A female character "moons" another group of teens, and skinny dipping is part of the scavenger hunt. Teens who had been looked over, felt invisible, and/or bullied in high school get to have their moment of glory and an unforgettable bonding experience. Older teen girls will thoroughly enjoy this smart story with authentic and relatable characters.
