The Story
Freshman Year and Other Unnatural Disasters—Book Review

Kelsey and her friends are starting high school and they have high hopes. Kelsey is determined to make the JV soccer team and is equally determined to act on the crush she has had for years. Things do not go exactly as she had hoped however, as a particularly nasty girl seems to have it out for her, her crush becomes involved with one of her friends, soccer is a complete nightmare, and what is up with the hideous pictures of her that keep surfacing in the school paper?
The Scoop
Freshman Year and Other Unnatural Disasters—Book Review
{spoiler alert}

Freshman year, friendship complications, and romantic relationships are at the heart of Freshman Year and Other Unnatural Disasters. Kelsey Finkelstein and her group of friends have a wild ride their freshman year. Some serious mean girl behavior takes place, with one girl singling another out and making her life miserable at times. Some rather wild behavior takes place, with teens attending unchaperoned parties, drinking to the point of extreme drunkenness and vomiting, smoking pot, and even getting kicked out of the prom for inappropriate behavior. Characters kiss and make out, with some fondling occurring as well, and teen sex and porn are referenced. One character is homosexual and eventually comes out to her friends. Language is mild (cr-p, h-ll, b-tch). This story will be relatable to teen girls who may have dealt with the drama that comes along with friendships, dating, and trying to fit in in high school. The publisher's recommended age is twelve and up, yet the subject matter makes this read more appropriate for those that are fourteen and older.
