The Story
Maximum Ride #8: Nevermore—Book Review

Maximum Ride and her crew are back, trying to live some semblance of a normal life. The kids are in school and for a brief while, things are going well, until, once again, they are not. While Max is still mourning the loss of Angel, who is presumed dead, but may not actually be, she is also trying to sort out her feelings for Dylan and all the while, missing Fang. When Fang loses his new gang and is in mortal danger, he once again meets up with Max. Max's mission to save the world takes on new meaning and her existence may have to be the ultimate sacrifice.
The Scoop
Maximum Ride #8: Nevermore—Book Review
{spoiler alert}

The finale of the Maximum Ride series, Nevermore, will appeal to those diehard fans who have read every installment. The usual violent fighting, death, and graphic descriptions of medical experiments take place in this book as in previous books in the series. A character also commits suicide. Max continues to struggle with her feelings for both Dylan and Fang, and there is a reference to sexual tension within this love triangle, as well as some passionate kissing. Language is mild (b-tt, b-ttload, cr-p). The story's ending can be a confusing one and may be somewhat unsatisfying. There is definite emphasis on the fact that Max's life is a metaphor for how to live--that we should each seize the day, live life to its fullest, and help save the world.
