The Story
Rebel Heart (Dust Lands #2)—Book Review

Now that Saba has rescued her twin brother Lugh from the Tonton, they are heading west with the promise of a better life. There, Saba will finally be able to reunite with her heart's desire. But when she gets word that Jack is in trouble, Saba thinks nothing of turning around and going right back where she came from to help him, no matter what the danger. Rumor has it that Jack is now with the Tonton, which Saba finds impossible to believe. Does Saba really know Jack as well as she thinks she does? And is she willing to risk everything, including her family, to save him?
The Scoop
Rebel Heart (Dust Lands #2)—Book Review
{spoiler alert}

Picking up where Blood Red Road left off, Rebel Heart is another engrossing read that will be enjoyed by fans of dystopian fiction as well as those that are new to the genre. Fans will be happy to reunite with Saba, an imperfect but capable and strong-willed female character who will do whatever it takes to find her true love, Jack. Unconcerned with placating others, the eighteen-year-old Saba uses her wits and determination to overcome even the most insurmountable of obstacles. Packed with action and danger, the Dustlands series is also about friendship and love--both romantic and familial. Saba's irrepressible desire to find Jack tests the boundaries of her family's loyalty and exposes her own shortcomings. The story involves a fair amount of violence as the Tonton's leader uses genocide in order to preserve the earth's limited resources. It is also implied that another character was raped by the Tonton. In an interesting plot twist, Saba becomes romantically involved (sex is implied) with a surprising adversary. Language is relatively mild (cr-p, h-ll, a-s, d-amn, b-stard). Fans will be eager to get their hands on the final installment in this trilogy.
