The second in The Slayer Chronicles picks up right where the first left off. Fans of the Vladimir Tod series will enjoy this one just as much, as many characters overlap. Some imagery is frightening and/or disturbing, as it involves dead bodies, some gruesome and bloody descriptions, and violent killing. Drinking of blood takes place, as some characters are vampires, and some older characters drink alcohol. Language is mild and infrequent (cr-p, d-mn, h-ll). Main character Joss is haunted by some pretty upsetting nightmares, mostly involving his dead sister, Cecile, whose death he has sworn to avenge. This is an exciting and suspenseful read, which ends leaving readers wanting more.
