When fourteen-year-old aspiring journalists, Susan and Stevie, get the chance to interview a famous ballplayer, they uncover more than they bargained for, and seek to find answers to the mysterious circumstances surrounding the ballplayer's wife's death.

The teens in this book are ambitious and responsible. Some adults drink and get drunk, and one character is a recovered alcoholic. Ethics in reporting (or journalism) and perserverence are themes that are central to the story. Mild kissing and some boy brawling are present. Swearing is mild, but happens frequently.
