The Story
Beezus and Ramona—Book Review

Nine-year-old Beezus is exasperated by her four-year-old noisy, bossy, mischievous little sister, Ramona. Ramona is in rare form as she writes in a library book, upends a checkers game, locks a dog in the bathroom, and invites the neighborhood kids over for a birthday party her mother is unaware of! Beezus' patience wears most thin on her birthday when Ramona ruins her cake and hogs all the attention. When Beezus finally speaks up, she learns that not everyone is pleased with their sibling all the time, and that it is okay to have the non-loving feelings she sometimes has.
The Scoop
Beezus and Ramona—Book Review
{spoiler alert}

Originally published in 1955, Beezus and Ramona still has appeal today. With the 2010 summer movie release of Ramona and Beezus, the Ramona books are having another surge in popularity. A timeless tale of sibling issues, this wholesome book will be enjoyed by even the youngest of readers, and would also make a great read-aloud. Bratty and attention-seeking four-year-old behavior is at the heart of the story, and discussions could be had about sibling relationships and tolerance.
