The Story
The Sea of Monsters (Percy Jackson and the Olympians, Book 2)—Book Review

In this second installment of the Percy Jackson and The Olympians series, thirteen-year-old Percy is disappointed to learn that he can’t return to Camp Half-Blood for the summer. Someone has sabotaged the camp’s protective boundaries, putting the campers’ safety at risk. Determined to save their beloved camp, Percy and his friends embark upon a dangerous and exciting adventure.
The Scoop
The Sea of Monsters (Percy Jackson and the Olympians, Book 2)—Book Review
{spoiler alert}

This witty, exciting read is filled with mythological gods, monsters, and battle scenes. Percy leaves school without permission to embark upon this risky adventure, but because the story is steeped in fantasy, the violence is relatively benign. Percy struggles with his need for recognition from his father and feelings of embarrassment when he discovers that he has a cyclops for a brother. Having ADHD and dyslexia also continue to challenge Percy.
